Krista Fogelsong
Anchor

NewsCenter 1 welcomes Krista Fogelsong back to the Black Hills.
I grew up in Baker, Montana watching Rapid City news as a child. Back then I lived on a ranch for a few years … and that's where my love of animals began. I had 2 dogs, several cats, 1 horse, some chickens and calves. But, the baby lambs I bottle fed were my favorite. I remember one time it was 101 below zero with wind chill….brrrrrrrr! We had to get all our animals in from the cold. Our horse had icicles hanging from her mane.
When I was a junior in high school we moved away from that cold Montana weather to the balmy Black Hills. I graduated from Spearfish High School in 1989. Then, it was off to New York City to see the world. I was a nanny on Long Island for two years. But, I also tried my hand at hotel concierge, house painter, and even made a few appearances on MTV.
I finally decided to go to college. But, it took me awhile to settle down. I attended Evangel College in Missouri, Dickinson State, and finally graduated in 1996 from Minot State with a degree in Broadcasting.
I was lucky enough to get a great internship at KMOT in Minot, which helped me get my big break in 1997 at KEVN in Rapid City. I started in the television business as a reporter, but by 1999 my life really changed. I got a puppy, got married, and I was the new main anchor at the station.
But, in 2002 warmer weather was calling my name again and I took a job as main anchor at WFTX in Fort Myers, FL. I worked there for five very eventful years. In 2004 we had to evacuate the tv station during Hurricane Charley and in 2006 I got to meet my teen idol Rick Springfield! My co-anchor and I won Best Anchor Team in Southwest Florida twice. I got to travel to LA to cover American Idol finals. I was also involved many charities and even got to sing backups with Eddie Money and ACDC to raise money for kids.
While I loved my time in Florida, it wasn't home. In 2008 my husband Lance and I decided we wanted to be closer to our families, who all live a within a few hours of Rapid City. In fact, we missed the colder weather and seasons after all. So now I'm back in the Black Hills working as the main anchor for KNBN NewsCenter 1. I'm looking forward to spending time outdoors with my husband Lance and my two Rat Terrier dogs out on the bike path or hiking in the hills.
