Taylor Nicolaisen
Meteorologist
Meteorologist Taylor Nicolaisen joined the NewsCenter1 weather team in October of 2000. Taylor is a graduate of Mitchell High School and Iowa State University's Atmospheric Science program.
Raised in South Dakota, Taylor has always been fascinated by the state's beautiful and dynamic weather. The Black Hills tornados, snow, and the world's greatest temperature drops provide a unique test for forecasters. "But", he says, "it's one of the reasons I love my job."
When the forecast is pleasant, Taylor can be often found exploring the Black Hills with his new wife, Lynn, his friends, or his trusty mutt, Lola. He has spent numerous hours exploring the Black Hills on foot, in canoe, on motorcycle and bicycle. When the snow escapes the upper reaches of the Black Hills and ventures into Rapid City, Taylor enjoys beating his friends and family in a game of cards.
